Details | The Department of Educational Psychology in the College of Education at the University of Utah invites applications for a tenured position at the Associate Professor level with a focus in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Education, with primary responsibilities in the Learning Sciences program. The Learning Sciences program offers MS and PhD degrees in Learning and Cognition, as well as master’s degrees in Secondary Science Education, Statistics, Instructional Design and Educational Technology. Learning Sciences faculty also contribute to undergraduate teacher education in elementary and secondary methods in science, mathematics, and technology education, as well as general survey courses in learning and research. Faculty conduct basic or applied research in their area of expertise and provide support to the graduate programs across the department, as well as to the undergraduate teacher education degree programs in the College of Education. Position Rank: This is a nine-month, full-time tenured position. The appointment is at the rank of Associate Professor. Applicant Required Qualifications: This position requires an earned doctorate in Educational Psychology, Science Education, Mathematics Education, Engineering Education, Learning Sciences, Psychology, or a related field. Candidates should have an established program of theory-driven research that studies the intersection of STEM Education with learning and cognition. We invite candidates whose research programs focus on either formal (K-16 learning environments) or informal STEM learning environments, and we are open to types of research design and areas of methodological expertise (e.g., quantitative, qualitative, mixed-methods). Position Responsibilities: Responsibilities of the position will include: The Department of Educational Psychology (EDPS) stands in support of compassion, dignity, value-of-life, equity, inclusion, and justice for all individuals regardless of color, race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, language, socioeconomic status, ability, gender, gender identity or expression, immigration status, or any type of marginalization. Learning Sciences program faculty areas of expertise include STEM education, educational technology, cognitive processes, and emotion regulation. Research in this program contributes not only to foundational theory in the learning sciences, but it also informs the design and development of effective educational materials and interventions. Appointment: July 1, 2022 Salary: Salary is commensurate with rank.
