Position Summary
The Department of Clinical Sciences at Colorado State University seeks applications for a 12- month Tenure Track Associate Professor in Small Animal (SA) Reproduction.
This is a full-time, tenure-track position. The faculty member is expected to have no less than 30 and up to 40% of their effort dedicated to independent and collaborative research and scholarly activities. The balance of effort will be distributed between service and teaching with an assignment of approximately 30-35% in each category. This will include an 18 to 22-week assignment in support of clinical teaching and service within the James L Voss Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH).
Clinical training of DVM students, interns, and residents is a requirement of this position, as is providing state-of-the-art care for small animals. This position will partner with one additional small animal reproduction faculty member to facilitate teaching and revenue generation in support of an expanding small animal reproduction service. The faculty member is also expected to contribute to the didactic small animal reproduction curriculum in the DVM program. An area of growing interest at CSU is to build on existing work with Service Dogs to improve clinical fertility and increase genetic gain.
During non-clinical time, the faculty member is expected to develop a research program with strong collaborations within the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (CVMBS). It is desirable for the faculty member to have the potential to collaborate in some of the ongoing research opportunities within the College. These include regenerative medicine, gamete cryopreservation and biobanking, development of in vitro models to study reproductive mechanisms, development of clinical trials to advance reproductive techniques, and comparative and translational research which may include other species. Sustained funding to support investigative efforts should be demonstrated. Scholarly activity will include publication of high impact original research. Professional and lay publications (e.g., book chapters) in the discipline of small animal reproduction will also contribute to job success in this category.
In addition to shared didactic teaching, it is expected that the faculty member will play a significant role in service/outreach efforts during their non-clinical time. This may include continuing education for local, regional, national, and international veterinary groups, consultation for veterinarians, and participation in university, college, department, hospital, or professional committee work.
