Job Summary:

General Description:
Successful candidates are expected to develop local, state, national, and internationally recognized programs broadly focused on the area of Precision Agriculture. Specific areas of emphasis will be based on the candidates’ strengths, and will include topics such as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, Artificial Intelligence, Advanced Machinery Systems, Remote Sensing and, Autonomy in Agriculture (both Crops & Livestock), and other related fields and topics.
Responsibilities:
 The successful candidates are expected to develop strong, externally funded Research and Extension programs in the following areas:
Ability to operate unmanned aerial system (UAS) or low orbiting satellites.
Utilization and implementation of precision-agriculture technologies such as yield monitors, field mapping, remote sensing, advanced data mapping and collection for site specific agriculture.
Evaluation and education in digital agriculture for producers.
Implementation of precision agriculture as it relates to the production of crops (variable rate technology) and livestock production (precision livestock farming advanced technologies) in Oklahoma.
Development of field experiments related to precision technologies.
Development and evaluation of machinery systems such as planters, fertilizer spreaders, sprayers, harvesters, tillage equipment and other equipment utilized in field operations.
Develop both Research and Extension materials that can be presented at local, regional, national, and international meetings.
Mentor graduate students.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

PhD in Agronomy, Agricultural and Biological Engineering, Machine learning, Geospatial systems, or related areas by appointment date.
Ability to develop a quality research program to focus on the next generation of precision agriculture by developing new agricultural technologies based on AI.
Experience in utilizing existing climate related data sets using high spatial and temporal resolution remote sensing from small unmanned aerial system (UAS) or low orbiting satellites and their application to agricultural production systems.
Ability to secure extramural funding.
Must be able to interact and communicate effectively with colleagues, staff, students, and other stakeholders.
