Job Summary
The University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign (http://illinois.edu/ ) and the Department of Kinesiology and Community Health (http://kch.illinois.edu/ ), located in the College of Applied Heath Sciences, are searching for an outstanding candidate with a background in biomechanics, disability studies, and adapted sports with particular expertise in wheeled mobility device users and upper limb health for a nine-month appointment at the rank of Associate Professor. The topics of biomechanics and disability are pillars of Kinesiology and fundamental to the examination of health, aging, and disease. Moreover, many of the most popular career trajectories among students in the Department rely heavily on this area of study. Ideally, the new hire will have experience directing large multicenter federal grants like National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR) and be able to connect with other growing areas in the Department, including disability and/or health technology, as well as with our colleagues in engineering and neuroscience.
Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate should have a doctoral degree in kinesiology, biomechanics, motor control, or a related field. A strong record of academic scholarship that meets qualifications for the rank of Associate Professor at the University of Illinois is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated excellence in college or university-level teaching is desired. A candidate with leadership experience is also highly desired. The committee strongly encourages applications from veterans, individuals with disabilities, women, and persons from historically underrepresented groups.
Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Academic position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 8/16/2024. Salary is commensurate with experience.
