Location
 

Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.


Department Information
 

The Department of Computer Science resides in the College of Computing & Software Engineering at Kennesaw State University.  The department has more than 2,200 undergraduate students in the ABET-accredited BS in Computer Science program, and over 400 graduate students in the MS in Computer Science and Ph.D. in Computer Science programs.


Job Summary
 

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, tenure-track Associate Professor of Computer Science faculty position in the Department of Computer Science with a preferred start date of August 2024. This position is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.


Responsibilities
 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Teaching computer science courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, programming languages, databases, security, visualization, quantum computing, AI/ML, human-computer interaction and social computing. Outstanding candidates from other areas will be considered as well, for example in robotics or computer-supported coop work.
  • Service to Department/College/University/professional community is expected.
  • Scholarship/Research expectations include pursuing and receiving external grants, creating journal articles and peer reviewed papers, advising undergraduate and/or graduate student research, etc.

Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.
 


Required Qualifications
 
  • An earned Doctorate degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Computer Science or a related discipline, is required. 
  • The candidate will bring a demonstrably national and/or international reputation in higher education and research with a proven track record of securing federal funding as PI and publishing in high quality journals and conferences.
  • Highly developed human relations skills, including strong collaboration and teamwork skills, to work well with all students, faculty, and staff.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.

Background Check
