Associate Professor, Medical Director - Phoenix PA Program

Position Summary:

The Medical Director supports the PA Program in ensuring that both the didactic and clinical experiences meet current practice standards as they relate to the PA role in providing patient care.

 

Essential Functions:

·       Assist in the development of the program’s mission, vision, values, and learning outcomes

·       Support the development of program-defined competencies to meet current practice standards as they relate to the PA role

·       Serve as an active participant in the program

·       Support the program director in ensuring that didactic instruction and supervised clinical practice experiences (SCPEs/rotations) meet current practice standards as they relate to the PA role in providing care

·       Contribute to classroom instruction in the PA program in areas of expertise

·       Participate in student advancement processes

·       Contribute to the design, implementation, and maintenance of program curriculum

·       Participate in regular program faculty/staff meetings

·       Participate in the ongoing program evaluation and accreditation processes

·       Serve as a liaison to promote the program within the university, with its clinical partners and with external stakeholders

·       Contribute to the student recruitment and admissions interview process

·       Contribute to the development of program policies and procedures

·       Clinical practice as assigned (to occur outside the 0.2 FTE assigned to the PA Program)

·       Participate in scholarly activity

·       Travel, as needed, to support program operations

·       Participate in university committees, as assigned

·       Other duties, as assigned

 

 

Education & Experience:

·       MD or DO physician

 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

·       Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills

·       Organizational and time management skills

·       Knowledge of the PA profession, the role of the PA, and the educational training process for PAs

 

Licenses/Certifications:

·       Current licensure as a physician by the state of Arizona

·       Current board certification by an ABMS or AOA approved specialty board
