The Department of Physiology at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) (https://www.uthsc.edu/physiology/) invites applications from and nominations of nationally-recognized individuals for a new tenure-track Associate Professor faculty position to build on its strengths in molecular and translational physiology research. The Department of Physiology at UTHSC was recently ranked in the top ten of all Physiology Departments in North America for total research funding. We seek candidates with an interest and demonstrated achievement in cardiovascular research. We are particularly interested in candidates with an active research program that complements existing departmental strengths in cardiac and vascular diseases, diabetes, ion channel physiology, and mitochondrial biology. The primary duties of this position are to maintain a vigorous, creative, externally funded research program, teach physiology to medical, dental, and graduate students, and provide service to the university and communities. This position comes with a competitive start-up package. The successful candidate will be in an outstanding position to take advantage of the exceptional opportunities and excellent resources available in the Department of Physiology, division of cardiology, UTHSC campus, and local and statewide hospitals to develop collaborative research programs.

Basic qualifications: Applicants must have a PhD, MD, or equivalent degree. The qualified candidates should have an excellent record of research accomplishments and national funding.
