Detailed Position Information
The College of Arts and Sciences at The University of Alabama (UA) announces an opening for a Director of the UA Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) Clinic, housed in the Department of Psychology. We seek a licensed clinical psychologist for this position. The position is classified as a Non-Tenure Track Renewable Contract (NTRC) faculty at the rank of Associate or Full Professor.

The University of Alabama seeks qualified applicants to serve as director of its longstanding Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) Clinic within the Department of Psychology. The person in this position will participate in and oversee a growing team of interdisciplinary professionals in the provision of a wide array of activities including research, graduate student teaching and training, and clinical services. The ASD Clinic Director will both oversee and work within an interdisciplinary team to provide autism-specific diagnostic, intervention, and consultation services to individuals and families, ranging in age from infants through adults. The Clinic Director will also have the opportunity maintain a research program and collaborate with other researchers on campus and will be expected to contribute to graduate student training. Specifically, the ASD Clinic Director will provide teaching and supervision to clinical psychology doctoral students working in the ASD Clinic and in the affiliated UA Autism College Transition and Support (UA-ACTS) Program. In addition, the ASD Clinic Director will be responsible for the efficient operation of the clinic, including supervising staff, managing the budget, and overseeing billing and HIPAA compliance.

The start date is flexible and does not need to adhere to the academic calendar. Applicants must have a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology, School Psychology, or a related field, and must be licensed or license-eligible as a psychologist in the state of Alabama. Experience in cognitive and developmental assessment and cognitive behavioral interventions is required. Experience in administration of the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition (ADOS-2) is also required. Beyond supervision, there will also be opportunities to teach classes in the psychology department. The incoming director will have the opportunity to help shepherd the transformation and expansion of this Clinic into more research and graduate training opportunities.

The UA ASD Clinic is situated in a newly expanded and renovated location on a large university campus. It collaborates with the UA-ACTS program, which provides support for UA college students who have autism. It benefits from renowned ASD researchers in several disciplines across campus, including collaborations with the Center for Innovative Research in Autism, the Center for Youth Development and Intervention, and the Alabama Life Research Institute.

Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must have a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology, School Psychology, or a related field, and must be licensed or license-eligible as a psychologist in the state of Alabama. Experience in cognitive and developmental assessment and cognitive behavioral interventions is required. Experience in administration of the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition (ADOS-2) is also required.
