Description: Hofstra University’s School of Health Professions and Human Services is seeking an anticipated full-time, tenure-track Associate Professor and founding Program Director to develop and administer a new CAPTE accredited program in Physical Therapy and provide visionary leadership to the program.
Hofstra University is located on Long Island, 25 miles east of New York City in Nassau County. The School of Health Professions and Human Services is home to three flourishing departments: Health Professions; Speech-Language Hearing Sciences; and Counseling and Mental Health Professions.
Responsibilities:
• Provide program leadership, including, but not limited to: managing the day-to-day responsibilities of program implementation, garnering and maintaining CAPTE accreditation, ensuring compliance with state licensing regulations, overseeing and evaluating fiscal and strategic program planning, coordinating student registration/advisement
• Assist in the recruitment and retention of faculty, staff and students
• Demonstrate a commitment to strategies for professional development
• Teach course work in the DPT program
• Set standards of performance for classroom and clinical instruction
• Develop, implement, review and analyze program evaluation and outcomes mechanisms
• Monitor the performance of all program employees
• Participate in scholarly activities
Qualifications: Candidates for the position of Associate Professor and Program Director will possess the following:
• An earned academic doctoral degree from an accredited university (i.e., PhD, EdD, DSc)
• Must be a Physical Therapist who is licensed in the United States with Board Certification in PT, and who is either licensed or eligible for physical therapy licensure in New York state
• Must meet the qualifications for appointment to the rank of associate professor or higher
• A minimum of 6 years of full-time higher education experience, with a minimum of
3 years of experience of full-time experience in a CAPTE-accredited physical therapist education program
• Extensive knowledge of and experience with physical therapy accreditation criteria (CAPTE) and state agency regulations, and familiarity with the details of clinical education and practicum site establishment
• Administrative experience in academic program planning and implementation, personnel management, program assessment, and fiscal management processes
• Demonstrated record of excellence in teaching, scholarship, service and research/scholarship
