INTRODUCTION

The Institute for Collaboration on Health, Intervention, and Policy (InCHIP) at the University of Connecticut invites applications for an advanced methodology tenured/tenure-track faculty position at the Associate or Full Professor level. InCHIP is a vibrant, University-wide, interdisciplinary institute that facilitates research partnerships and scientific advances in human health and well-being at several levels (e.g., individual, family, school, workplace, neighborhood, community, and policy). Topics of study include but are not limited to substance use, obesity, HIV/AIDS, mHealth and social media, school and child health, stigma, cancer prevention, medication adherence, health disparities, food policy, aging, global health, and mind-body health. InCHIP has faculty affiliates across many UConn colleges and campuses and houses four centers: the Center for Advancing Research, Methods, and Scholarship in Gun Injury Prevention , the Center for mHealth and Social Media , the Collaboratory on School and Child Health , and the Rudd Center for Food Policy and Health .

The successful candidate is expected to have an established, independent, extramurally-funded research program and expertise in one or more of the following areas: Just-In-Time Adaptive Interventions, factorial designs, standard adaptive designs, micro-randomized trials, or intensive longitudinal data analysis (e.g., ecological momentary assessment) for ecological momentary intervention. The interdisciplinary nature of InCHIP is supported by having affiliated faculty members from different academic departments, thus we invite candidates from a broad range of academic disciplines and research areas to apply. This position will be housed in the academic department that best fits the individual's research and teaching expertise. 

The successful candidate will collaborate with UConn faculty on grant-funded projects in the role of advanced methodologist and contribute to research and scholarship of InCHIP through extramural funding, high-quality publications, and national recognition via honors and awards. The successful candidate will also share a commitment to effective instruction at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels and mentoring of students, postdoctoral research associates, and junior faculty in research and professional development.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Earned Ph.D. or equivalent in any field.
  • Methodological expertise in one or more of the following areas: Just-In-Time Adaptive Interventions, factorial designs, standard adaptive designs, micro-randomized trials, or intensive longitudinal data analysis (e.g., ecological momentary assessment) for ecological momentary intervention.
  • Demonstrated record of external research funding.
  • Demonstrated record of peer-review publications in scientific journals and presentations at major conferences on topics related to advanced methodology.
  • Commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching.
  • Commitment to promoting diversity through research and academic programs.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Experience serving as a methodologist on large, federally funded grants or other large, externally funded projects related to health.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience teaching methodological coursework at the graduate level in one or more of the following areas: Just-In-Time Adaptive Interventions, factorial designs, standard adaptive designs, micro-randomized trials, or intensive longitudinal data analysis (e.g., ecological momentary assessment) for ecological momentary intervention.
  • Documentation of teaching excellence.
  • Respect for multidisciplinary collaboration.

APPOINTMENT TERMS 

This is a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track position with an anticipated start date of Fall 2024. There is the opportunity to earn up to 3-months of summer salary, in addition to the 9-month base. The successful candidate's academic appointment will be at the Storrs campus. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
