Job Summary

The School of Education and Counseling is seeking applicants for a tenure-track Associate or Full professor position with expertise in a STEM Education related field.


Qualifications/Requirements

This is a full time, 9-month, research and teaching faculty position. The individual will engage in original research with the goal of expanding the School of Education & Counseling’s capacity related to research and teaching in STEM Education (k-12). The chief purposes will be to submit grant proposals for external funding, disseminate research findings in peer reviewed and other high-quality outlets, and work in collaboration with other STEM-focused faculty to create pathways for students interested in teaching in STEM fields in addition to teaching in the areas of science, math and technology. Combined with the SOEC’s emphasis on urban education and commitment to advancing access, equity, and quality education for learners from historically marginalized and underrepresented minority populations living in poverty and/or the educators that serve them, the need for research in STEM Education continues to climb.


Position Responsibilities

The successful candidate will serve as a member of the School’s Education program area and will be expected to (a) teach four courses per academic year (b) cultivate and maintain relationships with professors in the university in STEM-related areas (c) work closely with Gabis Arboretum to provide experiential learning (d)participate in grant-related writing and projects (e) participate in beneficial service to the school, college, university, community, and profession.


Required Experience
  • Minimum three years of experience teaching in STEM-related content areas;
  • Ability to demonstrate a commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds;
  • PhD in related field;
  • Knowledge of quantitative data analysis techniques appropriate for STEM Education research;
  • Record of scholarly publications and presentations;
  • Record of external funding to support research;
  • An innovative and impactful research agenda that has strong potential for external funding;
  • Organizational and project management skills; excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of diverse backgrounds; and
  • Demonstrated research, scholarship, and practice in advancing access, equity, and quality education for learners from historically marginalized and underrepresented minority populations living in poverty and/or the educators that serve them.

    Record of external funding from NSF, NIH, NSA, or DOD

The college is also home to the Willie T. Donald Exoneration Advisory Coalition to support those who have been wrongfully convicted in the state of Indiana.
