In the RSE Group, we collectively provide computational research expertise to multiple divisions within the University. As a central team of software experts, we are focused on improving the quality, performance, and sustainability of Princeton’s computational research software. Our group is committed to building collaborative environments in which the best software engineering practices are valued, and to sharing and applying cross-disciplinary computational techniques in new and emerging areas.

 

In this position, you will work alongside and under the mentorship of a professional Research Software Engineer to build, develop, and optimize research software used in cutting edge Princeton research projects. Projects are available in a number of domains, e.g.: Machine Learning, Computational Mathematics, Geosciences, and Civil Engineering. Please note: domain areas and specific projects are subject to change and may not be known until June.

 

This is a temporary summer position with approximate start and end dates of June 3 and August 2.



Work under the guidance of a professional RSE to write, test, and improve research software (100%).



Essential Formal Education (minimum level required for this position): High school diploma or GED.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities: Qualified candidates should enjoy problem solving, writing code, have an interest in academic research, and possess a working knowledge of and experience in at least one programming language.
