Description: Predoctoral Associate in Research Organization: Duke University Position: Associate in Research Location: Department of Economics at Duke University in Durham, NC, USA Start Date: July 2023 Length of Commitment: 12 months

This full-time position at Duke University’s Department of Economics involves the collection, management, analysis and interpretation of primary survey and experimental data on economic productivity, social interactions and well-being, broadly defined. The pre-doctoral associate will work full-time with Professors Rachel Kranton and Duncan Thomas in collaboration with other faculty, post-doctoral fellows, doctoral and undergraduate students. The predoctoral associate will have opportunities to generate and test innovative research hypotheses and to possibly co-author manuscripts. The position is for one year starting in July 2023, with possibility for renewal contingent on funding and success of the project.

Job Duties: • Organize and evaluate the quality of data from complex longitudinal surveys • Conduct sophisticated statistical and econometric analyses • Interpret results of analyses and hypothesis tests • Produce high quality graphics and tabulate results • Research background literature and draft literature reviews • Contribute to manuscript preparation • Develop, deploy and collect electronic surveys • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Desired Qualifications and Experience: -Interest in pursuing a PhD in Economics. -A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Math, Computer Science, or Statistics, or related fields or significant advanced coursework in these areas. -Excellent research and writing skills. -Expertise in statistics/econometrics and ideally strong statistical programming, skills in STATA or a related product. -Expertise in Qualtrics is an advantage.
