Summary:

Duke Radiology is seeking a candidate to fill the position of Associate in Research.  The Associate in Research will perform a variety of complex technical duties involved in conducting virtual imaging trials through medical imaging simulation techniques.  Such techniques include computational models of human anatomy, algorithms that model imaging devices, and image reconstruction and analysis.

Work Performed (i.e. Duties):

  • Assist with the research and clinical workflow around photon counting CT applications, with emphasis to abdominal applications. This will include review of images and phantom experiments for protocol optimization, assessment of diagnostic performance for the detection and characterization of liver, pancreatic and renal lesions, and improvements of clinical workflow for spectral data interpretation.
  • Help to develop and implement meaningful AI applications to routine clinical practice.
  • Draft manuscripts.
  • Collaborate with the large number of research and clinical faculty in the Department of Radiology, and Duke University, to accomplish research goals. Participate in formal trainings, workshops, and presentations as requested.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • An individual with academic credentials but without a doctorate and not a degree candidate.

Experience:

  • Prior research in execution and publication of investigations on medical imaging, modeling, and simulations. Prior research experience is CT imaging is preferred.
  • Programming (C, Python, MATLAB, …) skill for machine learning, image processing, and simulation purposes.
