Summary:

The Center for Virtual Imaging Trials (CVIT) and Carl E Ravin Advanced Imaging Laboratories are seeking a candidate to fill the position of Associate in Research.  Ravin Labs is a leading lab of imaging research focused on the development and application of advanced imaging techniques. Within Ravin Labs, the Center for Virtual Imaging Trials aims to develop and provide a comprehensive virtual platform to assess the clinical performance of medical imaging technologies or applications from design to use. In its first phase, the Center focuses on Computed Tomography (CT).  The Center will provide essential resources to optimize the design and use of CT technologies for improved human health.

Work Performed (i.e. Duties):

  • Provide scientific coordination and support for research activities across the Center. Assist the investigative team with all aspects related to scanner design, development and experimental data acquisition. Take a leading role in design and construction of the proposed simulations, data acquisition tasks, data analyses, and overall data management related to the project.
  • Work closely with Center staff and oversee the work of students. Conduct training and dissemination activities; specifically, teach workshop sections and contribute relevant material for preparing user documentation and training guides.
  • Plan, implement and coordinate systems designed to perform and monitor the collection, transfer, processing, cleaning, dissemination, and storage of data related to specific projects as required to assist programs and/or projects director. Develop and optimize methods for image analysis in a high-performance computing environment.
  • Participate in research involving CT imaging.  Develop computer vision and machine learning algorithms for the classification of CT images to assist in diagnoses.
  • Prepare reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations and/or conclusions as requested.
  • Review and evaluate data monitoring and handling systems to determine consistency of data collected from various sources; recommend changes and modification to systems as required to ensure timeliness, accuracy and efficiency. 
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • Science-related MS degree or terminal degree (e.g. Sc.D., M.D., D.V.M)

Experience:

  • Prior research in execution and publication of investigations on medical imaging, modeling, and simulations. Prior research experience is CT imaging and/or lung imaging is preferred.
  • Programming (C, Python, MATLAB, …) skill for machine learning, image processing, and simulation purposes.
