Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates student-athlete recruitment effort for track & field programs and acts as the point person for identified and contacted recruits and their families. This includes traveling to high school and club events, evaluating prospective players, submitting materials from prospective student-athletes to the Office of Admissions for early credential reviews, coordinating all on-campus visits by prospects, as well as directing inquiries from families regarding financial aid to Student Financial Services. Responsible for annually recruiting a diverse incoming class of track & field student-athletes that contribute to the continuing success of the team and to the University community at large. 45%

  • Lead coaching of event groups (i.e., jumps, throws, sprints) with the planning of all in-season practice sessions, developing strength and conditioning programs for track and field student-athletes and an off-season training schedule and program. Assists with all game coaching at home and on the road. 30%

  • Serve as the primary liaison for Athletics' personnel responsible for team travel logistics, apparel/equipment purchases, and athletic training services. Direct involvement with supervising other assistant coaches and mentoring them about the University and the track & field programs. 15%

  • Participate in department service (i.e. student-athlete development leadership, DEI programming, etc.). Maintain applicable required certifications and serve on department committees. 10%

Education & Work Experience:

  • B.A./B.S. required. M.A./M.S. preferred

  • 3-5 years with college coaching highly preferred

Additional Information:

  • Operates in gymnasium and fields and may operate in varied weather given training needs.

  • General open office and campus environment.

  • Position involves sitting, movement and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds in coaching and training situations.

  • Frequent travel and early morning/evening/weekend work is required.

  • Valid driver's license required. Requires ability to drive 12-passenger vans.

  • Must be able to be insured by the University.

  • CPR/AED certification required.
