SUNY Polytechnic Institute, a globally recognized leader in higher education and technology innovation, research, and development, invites applications for two Wolfspeed Endowed Chair positions at the rank of Associate or Full Professor.  The Wolfspeed Endowed Chair position is for a 5-year term and is renewable with continued exceptional performance.  An annual fund is included to assist the Chair in the completion of their duties.

We are eager to hear from candidates with externally funded scholarly research programs connected to the semiconductor industry, materials, advanced manufacturing and or robotics that would benefit from the unique opportunities at SUNY Polytechnic Institute, including our collaborations with industry and government partners.  Applicants should demonstrate in their application how they would contribute to SUNY Poly programs in one or more of the following programs:

  • electrical and computer engineering
  • mechanical engineering
  • electrical and computer engineering technology
  • mechanical engineering technology
  • physics
  • Other applied STEM fields


Job Description:

  • Continue a national and/or internationally recognized externally funded scholarly research program incorporating undergraduate and graduate students. Funded programs that include academic, industry or government lab collaborations are encouraged.
  • Teach and develop curricula for a variety of courses in the applicant's field of expertise at the undergraduate and within planned graduate programs.
  • Advise undergraduate and graduate students and assist with a variety of student club activities.
  • Serve the College and community through outreach activities.
  • Provide an annual report of research activities for submission to Wolfspeed.
  • Other responsibilities include contributing to the University community through committee service, assessment, continued development of courses, and other activities.
  • Other reasonable duties as assigned.

Salary: Associate: $115,000 - 145,000 / Full: $145,000 - $175,000

Requirements:

Minimum Requirements:

  • PhD from a college or university accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized organization.
