General Description / Primary Purpose
The Department of Leadership, School Counseling and Sport Management invites applications for a 9-month, full-time Associate or Full Professor in Educational Leadership to begin on August 2, 2024. We are seeking an innovative and experienced educational leader who will contribute to the mission and vision of the College of Education and Human Services. Candidate(s) selected for Associate/Full Professor, with evidence of sustained high level of accomplishments in research focused on Educational Policy and Economic Development may also be eligible for the Andrew Robinson Eminent Scholar. All appointments would be contingent upon an additional review process.

Teaching, Research, and Service:
  • Teach master’s and doctoral level classes that prepare students for a broad range of leadership and administrative roles in educational settings
  • Serve on doctoral dissertation committees and supervise doctoral candidates
  • Pursue an active agenda of scholarly publications and presentations
  • Commitment to Program, Department, College, and University Service
  • Commitment to providing service to the community and profession and cultivating community partnerships and relationships

  • Earned doctorate in educational leadership or a discipline closely related to educational leadership
  • Record of scholarship (e.g., research impact, peer-reviewed publications, research awards, external funding), teaching, outreach, and service commensurate with rank.

Departmental Requirements
The preferred qualifications are:
  • Three (3) years professional experience as a principal/assistant principal, district administrator, superintendent/assistant superintendent with an emphasis on K-12 building level experience.
  • Experience chairing and serving on doctoral dissertation committees.
  • Experience working with students to develop a professional knowledge base that integrates both practical and research knowledge, that links theory with systemic and systematic inquiry
  • Experience supervising and mentoring practicum students in the field.
  • Experience leading, teaching, mentoring, or otherwise supporting the development of people/students from underserved populations.
  • Record of community partnership development
  • Experience pursuing external funding

The Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate (CPED) is an international network of 135+ graduate schools of education leading the charge to transform the Education Doctorate into the Professional Practice Doctorate in Education. Members are committed to rethinking advanced educational preparation through improved EdD program designs that offer academic rigor, practical impact, applied research, and value. CPED, the first action-oriented effort working to distinguish the EdD from the PhD, defines the EdD as one that prepares educators to become Scholarly Practitioners who can apply appropriate and specific practices, generate new knowledge, and steward the profession.
