Job Description

The Associate Editor, under general supervision, manages manuscripts approved for publication, including communicating with author and freelancers as required; assists managing editor as needed to maintain smooth workflow of manuscripts from editing through design and composition, to final printing and binding.
Responsibilities:
-Plans, compiles, edits, proofreads, and format reports, publications, proposals, newsletters, manuals and other materials.
-Liaises with authors, reviewers, designers, and printers to coordinate all phases of publication production.
-Assists in writing, editing and maintaining web content.
-Produces draft and final products for publication.
-Solicits and manages work of contributing writers.
-Maintains production schedules and stays abreast of projects to meet deadlines.
-Prepares work status reports.
Education and Experience:
-Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
-Five years of related writing and editing experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-Knowledge of AP, Chicago manual of style and usage or similar style guides may be required. Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database programs
-Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
