Job Description

Georgia Tech Research Institute's Special Secure Computing Division (S2CD) is currently seeking a candidate to serve as the Associate Division Chief. The ideal candidate will have experience administering Windows and Linux operating systems in SAP and SCI environments, managing an IT team, and developing/documenting IT best practices.

This position will design and develop new systems, applications, and solutions for enterprise-wide cyber systems and networks. Responsible for driving adoption, identifying and defining new security objectives and controls and helping with automated security validation development. Conducts network or software vulnerability assessments. Perform vulnerability analysis and exploitation of applications, operating systems or networks. Ensures system security needs established and maintained for operations development, security requirements definition, security risk assessment, systems analysis, systems design, security test and evaluation, certification and accreditation, systems hardening, vulnerability testing and scanning, incident response, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning and provides analytical support for security policy development and analysis. Integrates new architectural features into existing infrastructures, designs cyber security architectural artifacts, provides architectural analysis of cyber security features and relates existing system to future needs and trends, provides engineering recommendations, and resolves integration and testing issues. Interact, advise, and counsel on a regular basis with internal staff as well as project customers and other stakeholders.

Job Duties
  • Design information technology systems to meet the needs of various GTRI projects
  • Establish and maintain a deployment environment to aid in the building of future systems
  • Maintain existing systems as part of continuous monitoring and flaw remediation processes
  • Document system hardware and software baselines
  • Contribute to a shared knowledge base to document procedures and processes relating to the design, operation, and maintenance of information technology systems
  • Lead a group of student interns/Co-ops

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist/Associate I

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems (CIS), or any related technology degree.

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist/Associate II

  • A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems (CIS), or any related technology degree. and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems (CIS), or any related technology degree. and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor’s degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems (CIS), or any related technology degree.

Required Minimum Qualifications
  • Candidate must be compliant with DoD Directive 8570.1 IAT Level II.
  • Candidate must possess 5 years of relevant experience in the information technology domain.
  • Candidate must have experience administering Windows 10/Server 2016/RHEL6/RHEL7.
  • Candidate must have a Secret security clearance, must be able to obtain TS/SCI and SAP access. 

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Active Directory management, Powershell scripting, Group Policy Management, and Windows Server Update Services.
  • Experience managing, administering, and updating systems under the Risk Management Framework.
  • Experience with implementation of system hardening techniques, including Security Technical Implementation Guidelines.

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.
