Job Description

The Associate Director of Workforce Development Conferences, under minimum supervision, performs high level administrative and supervisory work. Reporting to the Director of Strategic Initiatives for Workforce Programs. This position executes the administrative function for College of Engineering and Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station (TEES) specialized programs such as conferences, seminars, and workshops to facilitate programmatic goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate, prioritize and perform administrative activities, including planning and implementing program events such as conferences, seminars, lectures, meetings, and workshops; monitor budgets for programs and events; and compile program statistics to meet metrics. In many cases, serve as first point of contact for the programs; establishes contact and meetings with clients, directors and staff.
  • Coordinate program communications and marketing. Interprets policies, rules, and regulations, and ensures they are followed.
  • This position manages large, high profile conferences and workshops, often including multiple parties from international partners.
  • Prepares and reviews reports on the effectiveness of program activities. Recommends program guidelines, procedures, policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Assures programs follow regulations for risks and compliance relating to international participants and working with minors.
  • Attends meetings to discuss the progress of assigned programs.
  • Oversees the work of assigned program staff.
  • Supervises students and other staff to perform duties related to conference and workshops.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Experience:

  • Eight years of related experience.

Preferred Education:

  • Master's degree

Preferred Experience:

  • Proven experience with large events and functions.
  • Experience with event management system.
  • Experience in higher education or non-profit communications.
