The Class Giving team consists of reunion giving and leadership giving. Both programs support campus-wide gift opportunities with a special focus on undergraduate priorities.

Reunion giving is a tradition at Stanford, and Class Giving fosters classmate connection and philanthropy. Through robust reunion campaigns ranging from the 10th reunion to the 70th, we partner with undergraduate alumni volunteers who conduct peer-to-peer solicitations of both major and annual donors, as a way of honoring their time at Stanford.

JOB PURPOSE:

Reporting to a Senior Class Giving Officer, the Associate Director of Reunion Giving works with a portfolio of prospects comprised of alumni celebrating a milestone undergraduate Reunion at Stanford. The position will be responsible for building and training a committee of reunion campaign volunteers, as well as identifying and cultivating new leadership donors, to strengthen affinity for and philanthropic support of Stanford. The Associate Director will develop a comprehensive Reunion campaign strategy to personally solicit and close five- and six-figure gifts to meet ambitious Reunion fundraising goals for both unrestricted and restricted support. The position will also partner closely with major gift officers and other campus fundraising partners to develop strategies for closing major and planned gifts during the reunion cycle.

CORE DUTIES*:

  • Work with a portfolio of assigned undergraduate alumni. Take responsibility for a wide range of fundraising activities, including maintaining an active level of contacts, identifying new prospective donors and volunteers, providing stewardship, and coordinating volunteer fundraising.
  • Establish ongoing relationships with individual alumni through personal visits, phone calls, and meaningful contacts.
  • Identify and prioritize prospects, make volunteer prospects assignments, prepare background material for solicitations, and follow up with volunteers to ensure completion of assigned solicitations.
  • Focus on high-end annual asks ranging from $10,000-$125,000. In addition, role often includes the opportunity to make major asks up to the mid six-figure range, based on the capacity and inclination of individual donor and relative to class year.
  • Enhance relationships between current and prospective major donors and high-level university volunteers, including Board of Trustee members, advisory committee members and next generation donors and volunteers.
  • Develop fundraising strategies, and track, analyze, and report results of development activities.
  • Collaborate with major gift colleagues to assist with reunion solicitations, leveraging volunteers and class resources as needed.
  • Stay informed on current university initiatives and activities.
  • Assist with design and management of appeals (e.g., direct mail, email, video, phone, and other channels) to target key populations to maximize fundraising potential.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree and three years of experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience required. Five years of experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated experience with fundraising, relationship building and solicitation, preferably in a higher education environment.
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring and working with volunteers, and staff.
  • Superior written and oral communication skills, with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to articulate a compelling case for philanthropic support programs.
  • Ability to develop and initiate new strategies.
  • Adept at problem solving, creating contingency plans and handling emergencies when necessary.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse constituencies and effectively develops relationships that enhance overall development goals.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, including the ability to set and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Salesforce.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

  • Occasionally stand/walk, light/fine grasping, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds, writing by hand;
  • Frequently perform desk-based computer tasks; frequently sitting; frequently use a telephone;
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a California Non-commercial Class license.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Occasional work on weekends and evenings during keystone university events such at Stanford Reunion.
