Job Summary
The Associate Director of Research and Pedagogy will manage a variety of workstreams related to advancing the research and mission of the Program on Negotiation (PON). As a member of the PON Leadership team, the Associate Director will play a key role in defining PON’s strategy and vision on issues related to our core content and its dissemination to the larger PON community. The Associate Director of Research and Pedagogy will provide oversight and support to workstreams relating to research activities, curriculum development, and PON events. In this capacity, this position will work in close connection with the Managing Director and PON faculty and will supervise 3 team members.
Position Description
As Associate Director of Research and Pedagogy, you will:
- Serve as a member of the PON Leadership team, participating in vision-setting and team management
- Represent PON as an ambassador to the larger negotiation and mediation community: attend conferences, liaise with visitors, serve as a point of contact for high-level inquiries
- Help to implement research initiatives as designated by the PON Chair and other faculty (i.e. secretaries of state, Middle East Initiative)
- Lead the selection and supervision of PON Fellows
- Coordinate the work of the Managing Editor of the Negotiation Journal
- Oversee the design and execution of PON public and community events, including:
- PON Live! and other open community events
- The Great Negotiator
- Conferences and workshops
- Faculty seminars
- Direct and support PON pedagogy including:
- Program development and improvement
- Working with faculty to identify and implement pedagogical needs
- The Teaching Negotiation Resource Center
- Development of new teaching materials
- Manage 3 PON staff members, including hiring and orientation, training and development, workflow and performance management, and the promotion of an inclusive and innovative work environment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and a minimum of seven years of relevant work experience
Additional Qualifications and Skills
We are looking for people who have :
- Deep knowledge of negotiation, mediation, and conflict resolution content, research, and pedagogy
- Ability to manage multiple programs, projects, tasks, and responsibilities simultaneously, and work successfully in a fast-paced environment
- Discretion, good judgment, and resourcefulness
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong project management skills
- Ability to work collaboratively; lead, influence, motivate and coordinate teams
- Experience in MS-Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, Canvas, Cvent event management
Additional Information
This is a one-year term appointment with potential for renewal subject to funding and departmental need.
