This position, working in collaboration with other UHS Directors, is expected to develop systems of care that foster continuity of patient care, optimal outcomes for patient health, and a successful health care team environment while supporting the UHS overarching mission of promoting students' academic and personal success through an integrated model of medical, mental health, and prevention activities and services. The Associate Director of Primary Care advances a respectful and healthy work environment that supports employee engagement for a varied work force.
The Associate Director of Primary Care (AD) reports to the Medical Director and is responsible for supporting physician and advance practice professional (APP) providers in their growth and development as clinicians as well as ensuring their success in providing high-quality evidence-based medical care to patients. The position has responsibility, in collaboration with the Medical Director, for medical providers and clinical practice across the primary care clinic. The position has direct supervisory responsibility for primary care providers (MD/DO, NP, APP). This position will support the development, measurement, and achievement of performance standards for quality, service, efficiency and effectiveness for clinical services in primary care. The AD must have effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to comfortably interact with diverse populations and work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. The AD is a collaborative member of the Medical Services Leadership Team, which includes the Director of Medical Services, Medical Director, Nursing, Operations and APP leadership.


Responsibilities:
Provides health care services and patient education, develops and evaluates care plans, interprets diagnostic tests to diagnose and treat injuries, illnesses, and medical conditions, and prescribes medications and treatments in support of patient health and well-being.
  • 20% Examines, assesses, and treats patients
  • 10% Reviews patient records and updates patient medical history
  • 10% Orders, performs, reviews, and interprets diagnostic test results
  • 20% Develops and communicates plan of treatment with patients and other members of the patient care team as required for treatment
  • 5% Counsels patients on preventive healthcare and treatment options
  • 15% Serves as a subject matter expert in field of practice to other healthcare practitioners for complex patients cases or incorporating new medical techniques or standards into clinical practice
  • 20% Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE)

Education:

MD or DO is required.


Qualifications:

Required:
--Minimum 3 years in Primary Care or related field
Preferred:
--College health experience
--Minimum 2 years supervisory experience preferred
--Experience in clinical informatics including project implementation preferred
--Experience with principles of evidence-based practice, performance improvement, and quality improvement preferred


License/Certification:

Required
Physician (MD or DO) - State Licensure
Current Licensure or eligibility to become licensed as a physician in the state of Wisconsin. Board Certification in Primary Specialty required. Board Eligible physicians will be considered only during their 1st post-graduate year.


Work Type:

Full Time: 100%
This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Minimum $160,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
