Career Management Center:

The Cornell SC Johnson College of Business career management center provides services to the more than 1,800 undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in the Dyson School, the Nolan School, and Johnson Graduate School of Management. The team of professionals associated with this center create and deliver innovative career education and professional development programming for these accredited business programs. In addition to career development initiatives, the center serves as a conduit for employers to connect with this talented group of young professionals.

The Associate Director of Employer Development Opportunity:

Reporting directly to the Director of Career Management and Employer Development the Associate Director of Employer Development is an integral member of the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business Career Management Center, with a focus on maximizing industry recruiting engagement to drive top-tier employment opportunities and placements. This position requires a highly motivated, professional and collaborative individual who enjoys developing and maintaining relationships with key recruiting partners. Target student populations that this individual will help serve include our MBA and Master’s students within the Johnson Graduate School of Management along with our undergraduate and MPS students in the Dyson School.

As our external engagement liaison, the Associate Director will conduct meetings with key recruiting partners to identify and develop successful recruiting strategies to maximize the companies’ recruiting presence. They will partner with target organizations to set the strategic vision for engagement with career management based on their recruiting needs and student interests. Further, this role will assist companies in determining the appropriate level of engagement in recruiting, which ranges from posting jobs to doing on-campus interviews to joining career events such as career fairs.

As an internal partner within the Career Management Center, this position will meet regularly with the career directors and advisors at Johnson and Dyson across the degree programs to determine companies and organizations to target for both current programs and those in development. This role will also maintain a close partnership with our recruiting operations teams to ensure a high-level of service to all employers interacting with the College. Lastly, the Associate Director will oversee and drive key target metrics to measure employer engagement and relate those metrics to student offer and employment results to ensure that the employer relationships being developed are producing attractive opportunities for students.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree with 3 – 5 years of work experience in a corporate or university setting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Salesforce, and recruiting platforms (12Twenty, Handshake, etc.)
  • Proven track record in gaining and growing accounts and developing corporate relationships
  • Strong interpersonal skills and effective oral & written communication skills.
  • Must be familiar with business school education, and functional areas like finance, accounting services, consulting, technology, and marketing.
  • Experience that demonstrates sound judgment, creativity, management, and problem-solving skills and the ability to work well within a team of professionals.
  • Comfortable working with both high levels of autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Must be available to work occasional nights and weekends to support program goals.
  • Must be able to travel approximately 10 – 25% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Master’s degree/MBA or equivalent.
  • 5 or more years in a corporate setting, career management, or student services role.
  • Understanding of MBA and undergraduate business program rankings and key career services metrics.
  • Familiarity with traditional MBA and undergraduate business career pathways and current job market.
  • Familiarity with common career services technologies/ CRMs / edTech platforms, such as: 12Twenty, Canvas, Qualtrics, Vmock, MBA Exchange, and Salesforce.
