The Financial Aid Office invites applications for an Associate Director to oversee compliance and processing initiatives and assist the director with planning, developing and administering financial aid operations. 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Managing the compliance and processing team.
  • Ensuring that UM is following Title IV rules and regulations. 
  • Training all incoming team members on compliance through the NAFSAA and FSA Coach platforms. 
  • Supervising and training the processing team employees in the division.
  • Managing the priority processing list and all quality control reports to guarantee timely reviews.  
  • Advising students and parents about the process of applying for financial aid in small and large group settings.
  • Assisting students with navigating SAP appeal process and presenting options when appeals are denied.
  • Ensuring content on the office website is current and accurate and overseeing financial aid campaigns.

Position Details

  • Position is full-time, 1.0 FTE, MUS Contract and includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package including Insurance package, mandatory retirement plan, partial tuition waiver, and wellness program.
  • Salary for this position is $65,000-$75,000 per year commensurate with qualifications.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in student personnel, counseling, business or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have good mathematic or accounting skills and have great attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to have consistent interpersonal interactions with students, families, agency representatives, faculty and staff.
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends for various events and presentations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to adjust quickly to changing job demands and use multiple software/database applications.
  • Knowledge of Title IV regulations pertaining to financial aid administration.
  • Demonstrated ability in leadership and organizational skills.
  • Ability to be granted access to federal aid databases, meaning cannot be in default on any federal loans.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in student personnel, counseling, business or related field.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Experience in financial aid administration with a demonstrated progression of responsibility.
  • Experience with Banner Financial Aid Module.
  • Experience with BlackBaud Award Management (Academic Works).
