The Alumni and Constituent Programs team within Advancement and Alumni Engagement focuses on coordinating and managing opportunities for Emory Alumni to engage with the university and fellow alumni through programs and events. This position will manage student and alumni engagement programs and activities, including management of the Student Alumni Board and its activities, student-alumni connection, mentor, and networking programs, student career development initiatives, and messaging of alumni resources and offerings to Emory's various student audiences. This position will report to the Director of Student-Alumni and Career Programs.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Creates, maintains, and enhances the relationship between alumni and the university and among alumni themselves.
  • Creates/manages strategy for recruiting, cultivating, and engaging alumni through class reunions, events, and programs for a specific school or unit.
  • Plans and develops communication methods directed at alumni on an on-going basis.
  • Recruits, cultivates and provides direction to volunteer leadership. Represents designated program/school within the division.
  • Fosters relationships with other campus offices, schools/divisions. Monitors program budget. May manage event budgets.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:

 

In addition to the duties outlined above, the Associate Director may be required to:

  • Cultivate and manage relationships with board, chapter and affinity alumni organizations under supervision.
  • Represent the department or serve as primary contact working with other departments across the division/University.
  • Maintain information on selected alumni and prospects including contact reports in CRM system.
  • Meet division metrics for visit preparation, qualification, contact reports, visits, referrals, and accurate coding using the CRM system.
  • Track and evaluate program metrics and produce reports on program and event participants to provide an analysis of populations served and inform on goals for respective volunteer programs.
  • Manage technology/information and master database software and applications with the ability to assess data used to determine the use of resources.
  • Research potential prospects for volunteer and engagement opportunities.
  • Develop and conduct individual and training programs, orientations, and written materials for student and alumni programs.
  • Develop, lead, and train colleagues and volunteers to execute digital engagement campaigns/programs in support of increased connectivity and presence across digital alumni communities. Maintain knowledge/expertise of best practices and current trends for student to alumni engagement.
  • Some weekend work is required.
  • Some travel may be necessary.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree in public relations or related field and three years of alumni relations, event planning, public relations or other related experience, OR an equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training.
  • Effective public speaking skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICTIONS: 

  • Successful candidates will possess strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills and possess the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate a complex work environment.
  • Commitment to delivering excellent customer service, the ability to work collaboratively, and comfort working with ambiguity.
  • Experience with managing volunteers and events.
  • Experience working with various technologies including advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite, mass email applications, database and project management software, and CRM systems.
  • Prior experience in advancement, fundraising, alumni engagement, non-profit, or a university setting.
  • Flexibility to accommodate changing priorities and deadlines.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department of work. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
