St. Catherine University invites applications for the Associate Director of The O’Shaughnessy.
Since opening in 1970, The O’Shaughnessy has presented an array of both local and national performing arts companies. The O’Shaughnessy’s mission is to support St. Catherine University’s mission to educate women to lead and influence. It presents annually a world-class series of artistic offerings that center themes of social justice and women’s voices, produces University Events that invite the general public’s participation and broaden academic engagement, and hosts select community events.
The Associate Director is the leader responsible for enhancing the internal organization and infrastructure necessary for O’Shaughnessy’s continued success and growth. They are responsible for leading and managing administrative operations for the venue, including business operations: soliciting and fielding rental inquiries, drafting and reviewing rental contracts with clients, bookkeeping, invoicing, financial reporting, budgets, and sales reports; organizational statistical data for sponsorships and grant reporting. The Associate Director will also lead the earned revenue growth strategies, including the implementation of a playbill advertising program and rental and ticket income from the Frey Theater and Recital Hall.
Responsibilities include:
  • Oversees and completed day-to-day operational tasks to keep venue organized and functioning on a highly effective administrative level.
  • Supervise and evaluate Management Assistant and Associate Production & Video Services Manager.
  • Lead the revitalization of the Frey and Recital Halls, creating new pipelines for earned revenue via rentals and ticket sales.
  • Execute and maintain all rental contracts for the organization, and act as point person for all administrative logistics for rental clients.
  • Create and submit invoices for rental events.
  • Work with the Executive Director to execute logistics on presenting contracts.
  • Act as lead on all internal O’Shaughnessy financial transactions, including reports for accounts payable and receivable to the business office.
  • Maintain event-based financial tracking documents.
  • Facilitate and ensure accurate deposits, cash advances, credit card reconciliations and tracking of concessions financials.
  • Maintain maintenance of vendor, deposit, transfer and business files.
  • Maintain e-commerce spaces, including EMS and marketplace.
  • Maintain and regularly update all contract templates for the organization.
  • Lead the implementation of playbill advertising campaign and program.
  • Work with the Sales and Marketing Manager to execute cultivation and pipeline efforts for O’Shaughnessy’s database of patrons, including first-time patron cultivation, frequent single ticket buyers to subscribers, and subscribers to members and donors.
  • Partner with Executive Director to develop on-campus relationships that inform programming decisions.
  • Create and implement robust audience development pathways and plans for the venue.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Two years working in nonprofit arts organization or event-based work in higher education institution.
  • Two years experience supervising at least one employee.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 3-5 years management experience in a nonprofits arts organization or higher ed institution.
  • Experience with event-based operations, administration, and revenue generation.
