The College of Nursing is currently seeking an Associate Director, NWI Area Health Education Center. The mission of the NWI AHEC is to improve health by recruiting, educating, and retaining healthcare professionals for underserved communities in Indiana. We do this by working with inner city and rural youth to introduce them to opportunities in healthcare careers. AHEC also works with health professions training programs to include medical, family nurse practitioner, BSN, Pharm D, and behavioral health students to develop clinical training experiences that introduce them to the needs and challenges of these same populations. In addition, we work with healthcare providers who are already serving in these areas to support their efforts and help provide access to best practice information. This is accomplished by working closely with the AHEC Network throughout the state as well as in collaboration with community and academic partners in our eight county region.
