Job Summary
Please note: this position requires willingness to travel for work-related activities, including overnight and weekends.
The Associate Director of NTID SPACE assists the Center Director with day-to-day operations, including overseeing the supervision of NTID SPACE staff members, making recommendations to the Center Director for budget expenditures, ensuring that Center facilities and equipment are secured and in good repair, determine how those facilities and resources are allocated to faculty affiliated within the Center, and develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure that the Center achieves its goals. The Associate Director is also expected to engage in externally-funded research, either by preparing their own grant proposals or by having effort assigned to projects directed by Center-affiliated faculty. The Associate Director reports to the Center Director.
Job Responsibilities:

  • Engage in research support activities with a focus on supporting projects where personal effort is assigned in budget
  • Assist Center-affiliated faculty in the preparation of grant funding applications
  • Ensure that Center facilities and resources are secure and maintained
  • Supervise and evaluate NTID SPACE staff and student workers
  • Work with senior staff assistant to monitor Center operating and F&A budgets, approve expenditures, and make budget recommendations to the Center Director
  • Make sure that all research activity under aegis of NTID SPACE is IRB approved and maintains compliance and certification of approval
  • Ensure NTID SPACE policies are adhered to and, when needed, develop and implement new policies to help Center achieve its goals
  • Provide mentoring and support for students conducting self-directed research, including students in MS and PhD programs
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
  • At least a Masters degree in a field related to NTID SPACE scholarship (e.g. Cognitive Science, Psychology, Linguistics, Developmental Science)
  • At least 5 years experience conducting experimental and/or quantitative research
  • Fluency in American Sign Language
The successful candidate hired for this position will be required to drive on occasion, and therefore will be required, upon hire, to immediately enroll in the NYS LENS program. Candidates can review page 4 of RIT's Safe Driving Policy
Preferred Qualifications:
  • PhD or advanced graduate coursework is preferred
  • Experience using methods and techniques employed by NTID SPACE faculty and students, including but not limited to EEG/ERP, eye tracking, behavioral studies, and computational modeling
