Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Associate Director for the Office of New Ventures – Life Sciences Department. This position will be responsible for building, attracting matching funds from angel investors, seed investors and traditional venture capitalists.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Assists the Executive Director in creating a life sciences mentoring program comprised of experienced life sciences executives, entrepreneurs, service providers and others who could provide Rutgers life sciences start-ups with advice and support. The mentors may also be candidates for a founder/management position in Rutgers life sciences start-ups.
  • Reports to and works very closely with the Executive Director, New Ventures.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • B. Sc. Life Sciences Degree.
  • A minimum of 7 years’ experience in all aspects of life sciences start-up creation and venture funding.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • A track record of successful collaboration with university researchers in research commercialization.
  • Deal-making experience in the life sciences.
  • A minimum of 7 years of negotiating complex start up life sciences agreements.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in creating and developing university life sciences start-ups.
  • Extensive interaction and established relationships with entrepreneurs, investors, and corporate lawyers.
  • A significant deal sheet directly related to university life sciences start-up deals.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A Graduate degree in management or business (preferably an MBA or J.D.).
