ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Associate Director directs informatics activities for USF Health which include the Morsani College of Medicine (MCOM), the College of Nursing, the College of Public Health, and the Taneja College of Pharmacy. The position provides essential informatics development and secure effective, integrated information delivery system that will continually improve outcomes, reduces cost and increases efficiency. Responsibilities include collaborating with key stakeholders in each of the colleges to support the design, build, test, train, implementation, evaluation, and maintenance of essential informatics platforms and their associated information technology systems. The position must utilize the knowledge of clinical practice, computer science, and information technology to manage data and determine components that are suitable to build while maintaining alignment with the goals of the USF. The position reports to the Director of Strategic Planning and is responsible for training, developing direct reports, and providing guidance/direction commensurate with identified goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Business Intelligence: Provide thought leadership and participate in projects that involve any of the upstream or downstream data flows and Facilitate the development and implementation of data quality standards, data protection standards and adoption requirements across the USF Health Colleges. Define indicators of performance and quality metrics and ensure compliance with data related policies, standards, roles and responsibilities, and adoption requirements. Identify new business opportunities pertaining to the use of information assets to achieve efficiency and effectiveness in the marketplace, and represent data as a strategic business asset to senior leadership.
Data Analytics & Reporting: Develop and maintain dashboards for the Colleges and/ or key personnel daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly. This includes ensuring the accessibility of accurate information to department personnel as needed. Cleaning, analyzing, interpreting, and displaying data using different approaches and business intelligence tools to assist in uncovering key insights that lead to better informed and successful decision making. Transformation of raw data meaningful statistics, information, and explanations.
Additional Competencies: Demonstrates operational agility. Uses organizational systems that result in multiple critical activities to be identified and completed on time. Renegotiates priorities as necessary. Puts systems in place and uses them to monitor and detect errors and problems. Tests and inspects outputs and applies quality checks prior to work submission.
Management: Manage, train & mentor individuals with access to BI tools, Clinical Analysts, and other junior staff positions.
Performs other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
This position requires a Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum of five years related exempt experience, including two years of experience managing exempt level employees.
FLSB 1310 Equivalency:
4 years of directly related work experience may be substituted for a Bachelor's degree.
PREFERRED:
Master's degree in Health Informatics, Business, Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or another related field of study. Four years of experience in a business analyst or project management role. Five Years' experience working in EPIC or other EMR systems and experience with Qlik, Tableau or Power BI. Proven experience & record of achievement in a similar academic healthcare setting is critical. Excellent planning, organization, management, multi-tasking, analytical, problem-solving, communications & financial management skills. Ability to work under pressure with sound judgment. Innovative & entrepreneurial abilities are critical. Knowledge of USF Health and USF systems, policies, procedures, and workflows. Proficient with Microsoft Office.
SPECIAL SKILLS/TRAINING:
8 years of experience in a business analyst or project management role. Four years of experience working in EPIC or other EMR systems.
