Job Summary
We are currently seeking skilled and team-oriented applicants for the following position: Associate Director of the Pride Center
Reporting to the Director for Student Equity and Inclusion Services, the Associate Director for the Pride Center is a key communicator, educator, and advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion through the lens of intersectionality, justice, and antiracism for the university. The Associate Director is tasked with helping create and support an inclusive and equitable social and learning community at EWU for LGBTQ+ and marginalized students, and serves as a key point of contact for the EWU Pride Center and a secondary point of contact for the EWU Multicultural Center. The Associate Director will work closely with the Director to ensure both the Pride Center and Multicultural Center work collaboratively on campus-wide events, workshops, and initiatives.
The Associate Director is responsible for designing and facilitating programs, workshops, resources, and communications in order to support the integration of LGBTQ+ students and issues into the university community as well as promote and enhance the recruitment, retention, and social and academic success of marginalized students, particularly LGBTQ+ students.
The Associate Director will build collaborative internal and external relationships, work closely with Student Affairs case managers to connect students in need to resources and support, and help oversee the Pride Center’s involvement in campus, local, and regional activities/events that contribute to an overall climate of cultural competence and humility. This position supervises department staff and student employees, as well as mentors and assists students, staff, and faculty with referrals to appropriate on- and off-campus resources, as needed.
This is a new position at the university, and we are looking for people willing to take initiative and be creative.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Gender/Women’s Studies, Ethnic Studies, Education, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Three (3) years of professional experience, including at least one (1) year of experience advising students. [Internship, volunteer, or related work that is commensurate with three years of professional experience, including at least one (1) year of experience advising students may substitute.]
  • Demonstrated experience doing antiracism work or engaging in antiracism training, education, or curriculum.
  • High level of cultural humility and experience working effectively with marginalized populations.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience developing, coordinating, and planning events and activities.
  • Supervision experience, which can include supervising student/part-time employees.
  • Demonstrated interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency, universal accessibility, and/or diversity.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Gender/Women’s Studies, Ethnic Studies, Education, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of theories and practices related to social justice, intersectionality, and/or college student development.
  • Experience with assessment and design of learning outcomes.
  • Experience in grant writing, fundraising, and/or other forms of revenue generation.

    Administration and Management
    • Manage daily operations of the Pride Center, including public reception and interior facility maintenance. Serve as a secondary point of contact for the Multicultural Center and lead staff meetings as needed.
    • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate student and professional staff in the Pride Center. Approve leave requests
    • Develop and conduct staff training regarding intercultural communication, leadership, and LGBTQ+ identities and issues, and event planning.
    • Act in the absence of the Director during staff meetings.
    • Manage and track expenditures to ensure they are in alignment with the Pride Center budget as established and maintained by the Director. Advise and participate in budget discussions and recommend solutions to budget shortfalls.
    • Develop, implement, and evaluate annual goals and learning objectives for the Pride Center, its programs and staff, in partnership with the Director, and assist with the development of multi-year strategic planning efforts for the Student Equity, Belonging, and Voice unit under Student Affairs.
    • Maintain administrative reports, compile data on program activities, and coordinate assessment processes used to analyze and evaluate effectiveness of the Pride Center programs, usage, and outreach. Assist with reports as needed for the Multicultural Center and Eagle F.A.M. program.
    • Maintain and update the Pride Center’s website and social media pages and integrate technological resources into the center’s operations/programs. Oversee production of regular publications and promotional materials.
    • Maintain a thorough knowledge of University policies and procedures as they relate to campus organizations, communications, and the use of University facilities. Maintain current knowledge of changes in University policies.

    • Develop, plan, and coordinate small- and large-scale social, cultural, and educational programs intended to raise campus awareness regarding intersectional LGBTQ+ issues.
    • Assess and respond to student, faculty, and staff needs, and the quality of life for LGBTQ+ campus community through programming.
    • Build, maintain, and enhance a sense of belonging and community for LGBTQ+ students and other marginalized identities.
    • Respond to requests for presentations, trainings, workshops, lectures, panels, and resources related to LGBTQ+ and underrepresented students.
    • Develop programmatic partnerships and coalitions with academic and administrative departments as well as student and community organizations. Promote the recruitment and retention of LGBTQ+ students, and serve as the main point of contact for Student Affairs case managers from Student Accommodations and Support Services.
    • Coordinate publicity efforts to raise awareness of the various services and programs available through the Pride Center. Oversee production of outreach materials that publicize programs and services, including but not limited to: flyers, posters, brochures, and the website.

    • Serve as a resource in providing assistance and referral information to students, staff, and faculty regarding grievances, alleged discrimination, and harassment, in accordance with campus policies. Assist other administrative departments in responding to such complaints as needed.
    • Analyze current issues, trends, and best practices – on the local, regional, and national level – related to diversity, equity, inclusion, higher education, and LGBTQ+ students.
    • Represent the Pride Center on campus-wide committees and public forums as needed.
