About the Opportunity:


The Associate Director of Career Equity and Inclusion will lead the development and implementation of a university-wide diversity, equity and inclusion initiative, NU PLACE (Professional Leadership and Career Engagement), that will support the DEI objectives of Career Design and the University. NU PLACE is a new initiative integrating programs, resources, and services in the Northeastern University ecosystem that address the intersection of career and identity to support the professional development and career trajectory of marginalized learner populations (including students of color, first generation and low income, LGBTQA+, International, students with disabilities and other underrepresented intersections of identity) across all Northeastern campuses. This coordination of engagement opportunities for students, alumni, faculty/staff, employers, and community partners is intended to advance the professional networks and pathways of our learners, while also increasing the recruitment and retention of diverse talent for our employer partners committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
This inaugural role will have a dual reporting line to leadership in EECD and to the Chief Inclusion Officer, in order to maintain alignment of DEI efforts with the initiatives and goals of the institution. This individual will conduct regular assessment of the CD team’s programming, resources, and outcomes, and will recommend actions to close any gaps in equity or access for students based on race, nationality, gender, disability, or first-generation status. They will serve as a liaison to the other departments, individuals, and student groups at Northeastern with a focus on promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion. They will create and implement programming that educates the Northeastern community about equity and inclusion topics in the context of the workplace.
Some evenings needed for presentation of seminars, workshops and as needed to meet learner needs.

 

Qualifications:

Minimum of a Master’s degree in career development and/or student personnel. Five years’ experience in career counseling, higher education or related field preferred. Experience in multicultural counseling, social justice work, diversity, equity, and inclusion in talent acquisition and workforce development. Demonstrated skill in working with diverse populations and in presenting/teaching. Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and organizational skills. Knowledge of training, conflict resolution and mediation methods. Ability and desire to work in a team environment needed. Experience with social media including, LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and others and delivering webinars using Zoom and MS Teams. Strong computer skills required (Microsoft, Excel, and PowerPoint).
