Associate Director, Faculty Development and Applied Research

Manage and coordinate LILE’s R&D efforts:

  • Gather and analyze data to inform decisions about new project explorations including technology tools, course offerings, faculty development programs, and co-curricular programming
  • Design, implement, and summarize learning experience research projects to understand how people experience the Duke learning ecosystem
  • Consult with pilot project teams to ensure appropriate data are collected to inform pivots and future directions
  • Consult on program evaluation design and implementation to faculty and staff across the university, especially to assist in securing external grants
  • Work with stakeholder groups across Duke to evaluate university-wide initiatives related to teaching and learning

Develop key relationships and collaborations:

  • Cultivate partnerships with Duke researchers who are interested in educational improvement to execute R&D around educational interventions
  • Build partnerships with foundations, government agencies, and other universities
  • Collaborate with the LILE team to design programs that advance the R&D agenda and learning at Duke
  • Initiate, develop, and maintain grant-supported funding for LILE.
  • Seek external funding through grant writing
  • Manage LILE grant programs and sponsored research activities

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Hire and supervise 1.0 FTE Project Coordinator.
  • May hire and supervise student workers.

 
Minimum Qualifications
Education

Work requires a Bachelor's degree in a field related to the specific position. A Master's degree is strongly preferred.


Experience

Work requires four years of experience in research/data analysis OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE-related position.
