Job Description

Associate Director, Employer Engagement
Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Career Services, the Associate Director oversees the Career Center team responsible for developing and maintaining successful relationships with employers, organizations, alumni, parents, and friends of Boston College.
Specifically, the Associate Director leads the five person employer engagement team and provides strategic leadership and oversight of all aspects of employer engagement including job and internship development, on-campus interviews and recruiting events, career fairs, corporate relationships and related activities. The associate director also serves on the Career Center Leadership team and works closely with all members of the Career Center team to implement our vision to empower students to pursue lives of meaning and impact. The Center embraces the value of a Jesuit liberal arts education, which prepares students to discern their gifts and talents and how they want to use them to engage the world.  
As the Career Center is committed to addressing issues around diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of our work, the Associate Director is responsible for developing an overall strategy that proactively works to create and promote equitable and inclusive hiring practices. Additionally, the Associate Director also must be genuinely committed to engaging in meaningful dialogue and pursuing action that will improve social and racial justice.
Position Responsibilities:
● Serve as a member of the Career Center senior management team to ensure the Career Center develops an integrated approach for students to achieve meaningful post-graduate outcomes.
● Develop a vision and strategy for expanding opportunities for employer engagement, internships and post-graduation employment, working closely with the Career Education team to align employer engagement efforts with the diverse interests and needs of our student body.
● Collaborate with the internal diversity, equity, and inclusion committee to develop and implement an employer engagement-specific strategy that focuses on building strong relationships with organizations recognized for DEI efforts and expanding opportunities for students from underrepresented backgrounds.
● Oversee the day-to-day operations and provide supervision of the employer engagement team, including on-campus recruitment, job development, career fairs and other employer engagement events.
● Generate new employment leads in various career clusters through meetings via phone, digital media, and/or in-person to create strategic relationships that will result in internships, part-time, and full-time employment opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students.
● Communicate key employer/recruitment trends to the Career Center staff regularly to help us remain informed and current on the industry information we share with students.
● Work closely with Alumni Relations and University Advancement to develop key relationships with corporations, alumni, parents and other members of the Boston College community.
● Ensure that our job and career platform software maximizes opportunities for employers and organizations to connect with our students.
● Measure ROI on employer engagement work; prepare reports on employment activity and trends.
● Serve on and/or lead university-wide and regional or national professional association committees to raise awareness about best practices in our profession.

Proven track record of successful employer relations campaigns and job development initiatives, the ability to develop and articulate a vision and strategic approach for employer relationship building and to bring together constituents for facilitating student employment success, a successful record in supervisory and leadership roles; strong marketing, written and oral communication, and presentation skills, a thorough knowledge of college recruiting practices and trends, current labor market issues, and employment laws, understand and proficiently demonstrate competitive job search strategies and Possess a working knowledge of online career management systems (NACEink preferred) and technical sales tracking tools
The candidate is expected to be highly ethical, especially regarding fair and open recruiting policies and proficient in discerning the appropriateness and integrity of employers of interns and graduates and understand the educational components and student experience at a Jesuit institution.
A minimum of a master's degree in a relevant field, with at least seven years experience in employer relations and job and internship development and/or corporate recruitment.
Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $81,650 to $102,050; salary commensurate with relevant experience.


Requirements
● Master’s degree in a relevant field and/or significant experience in employer relations, relationship management or corporate recruitment.
● 5 + years of experience with job development and placement preferably within higher education.
● Appreciation and understanding of the value of a Jesuit, Catholic Boston College education to prepare students for a life of purposeful work. Commitment to working with diverse populations (e.g. AHANA, LGBTQ, first generation).
● Proven track record of collaborative team leadership with a results-focused orientation.
● Experience creating strong relationships with colleagues and senior level internal and external constituents and proven ability to lead successful cross-institutional programming and initiatives.
● Excellent interpersonal, communication, writing and presentation skills.
● Proven ability to make ethical decisions, especially regarding fair and open recruiting policies and proficiency in discerning the appropriateness and integrity of employers of interns and graduates.
● Demonstrated comfort and previous experience using technology to engage employers and students; knowledge of online career management systems is a plus.
● Knowledge of current trends, research, and best practices within both the employment community as well as student populations.
● Ability to adapt and change with organizational needs and to use data to make and justify decisions.
● Have a degree of scheduling flexibility in that evening and weekend commitments as well as travel is expected.
