What we want
The Associate Director – Collegiate Recovery Program Director, under general direction, assists the Director in operations and maintains responsibility for the Collegiate Recovery Program within University Health Services. Responsibilities include program development, implementation and outcomes, student recruitment, community engagement, proposal writing for grants and philanthropy, partnership development, consultation, and collaboration with campus stakeholders including student organizations, academic faculty, the Division of Student Affairs, and others.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Eight years of administrative experience in recovery and alcohol/drug program services including general young adult support services, mental health support and well-being programming leadership (such as collegiate recovery program development and/or community recovery program development)

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to ensure understanding

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exceptional public speaking skills

  • Exceptional organizational skills

  • Ability to problem-solve, take initiative, and implement solutions with minimal guidance

  • Experience in addiction sciences and recovery

  • Experience in college student development

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to develop and maintain partnerships that benefit collegiate recovery

  • Experience creating new programming and/or organizations

  • Supervisory experience over a team

  • Leadership experience to include developing a vision and executing said vision

Responsibilities:

  • Administration - Serves as part of the strategic initiatives leadership team within University Health Services. Leads strategic planning for collegiate recovery; assist director in developing and implementing overall collegiate recovery plans. Represents the organization and the program to stakeholders through public presentations, media inquiries, and local, state, and national engagement. Executes and manages the annual budget for collegiate recovery and provide ideas/solutions for responsible financial stewardship. Collects, maintains, and shares data and information as needed for grant applications and reporting. Establishes and submits an annually report of the key performance indicators for the collegiate recovery program. Conducts annual performance reviews of supervisees. Assists director in managing physical space and developing policies and procedures. Oversees the coordination of collegiate recovery programming; ensures program goals are consistent with University Health Services mission, vision, and strategic plan and with program accreditation standards. Chairs the Scholarship Committee, overseeing award distribution and compliance adhering to university processes and guidelines. This includes organizing and compiling students' completed applications to assure unbiased committee review and decision-making. Completes special projects as requested by director.

  • Partnerships - Actively develops and maintains relationships with campus and community stakeholders key to the success of the collegiate recovery program. Serves on various University Health Services and University committees and represents department at various state and national associations.

  • Student Development and Support - Assists collegiate recovery community students and applicants with the admissions process, academic advising, housing and financial aid documentation and deadlines. Establishes and develops relationships with the Collegiate Recovery Community students and their families, assisting in the creation of a healthy transition to university life. In times of crisis, makes appropriate referrals when necessary. Engages with and support relevant student organizations. Provides first step crisis intervention to students as needed, making proper referrals within the department service providers or to community providers

  • Supervision - Recruits and retains qualified team to support and co-lead the Collegiate Recovery program. Supervises and directs staff and activities of project teams or functional areas.
