Associate Director, Clinical Skills Education & Assessment Center

Associate Director of the Clinical Skills Education & Assessment Center within the College of Medicine will direct, lead and oversee all facets of center, a multi-disciplinary professional skills practice lab that provides education and hands-on training in basic clinical skills and advanced surgical, ultrasound and medical scenarios in a simulated hospital setting for students, residents, medical trainees, and faculty from all health sciences schools and colleges; collaborates with Medical Director to identify and establish strategic vision, goals and objectives; oversees, leads and manages accreditation of center with relevant national accrediting agencies; directs and leads accreditation and compliance site visits; actively participates in strategic planning activities to develop and implement clinical skills procedural training opportunities; negotiates and develops formal agreements with other health sciences colleges for utilization of center of their clinical trainees & practitioners; promotes and provides high quality clinical education and assessment of performance of skills and procedures; plans and directs expansion of existing programs, launch of new instructional techniques, and apply new outcomes assessments; leads and oversees operation of clinical simulation laboratory and associated technology, as well as standardized patient program; fosters educational research applicable to teaching and assessment of clinical knowledge, skills and attitudes; identifies and pursues research and scholarship opportunities; provides consultation and markets clinical skills center to local, state and national organizations; forecasts, plans and develops annual operation and capital budgets; responsible for financial management of the center including invoicing vendors, submitting payment requests, negotiating capital equipment purchases and approving all purchases; identifies and determines staffing requirements; recruits, interviews, hires, supervises and evaluates CSEAC professional and support staff.

Minimum Education Required:
Bachelor's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with a Major in education or business.


Additional Education Desired:
Master's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Required Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in relevant field required or equivalent combination of education & experience required; Masters degree desired; 7 years of experience in planning & administration of academic program in a management capacity required, preferably in higher education; considerable knowledge of medical education requirements, curriculum standards, clinical skills training & accreditation regulations preferred; experience with hands-on clinical training including human patient simulators & standardized patient programs preferred; experience with budget management desired. Requires successful completion of a background check. Qualified candidate may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
