Job Summary

The College of Engineering (CENG)is the newest College at Illinois State University. CENG is planning to have its first entering class of students during the Fall of 2025. The goal of the College of Engineering is to be nationally recognized as a leader in engineering education by supporting students with diverse backgrounds to be career ready, with an emphasis on applied research, project based learning and societal impact. The College will begin with three undergraduate degrees (Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and General Engineering).


Additional Information

This is a founding faculty / administrative position in the College of Engineering. The opportunity to make a positive impact is tremendous and this position will help set the direction of the college and its success. The position assists the Dean of the College of Engineering with the recruitment and retention of a diverse student and faculty population by developing and implementing student and faculty programming and support. Additionally, this position is responsible for leading our founding strategic planning efforts.


Salary Rate / Pay Rate

$160,000 - $195,000 depending on qualifications and experience, combined with an excellent benefits package


Required Qualifications

1. A terminal degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Education, or a closely related field from an ABET Accredited degree program.
2. A record of scholarship, teaching experience, and service that merits appointment as associate or full professor in the College of Engineering at Illinois State University.
3. A demonstrated commitment to the equity, diversity, and inclusion.
4. At least three years of administrative experience at the level of director or higher in higher education.
5. Strong oral and written communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications

1. Strong student support skills.
2. Ability to lead diverse teams.
3. Sound ability to manage multiple projects.


Work Hours

Generally Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm with occasional weekend and evening hours as business needs dictate


Functional Expectations

Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:
1. Remain at a workstation for extended periods
2. Move about in various locations on and off campus as needed to complete day-to-day work
3. Effectively communicate on a daily basis
