Job Description

Responsible for the direction, development, implementation, and growth of programs and courses within an academic or administrative department. Provides support in academic policy, student admissions, curriculum research and development, faculty recruitment and retention and budget development and administration

Duties:

  • Serves on processional boards and committees
  • Collaborates work with administration, faculty, and staff, oversees the implementation of department programs and helps to determine the mission, vision and focus for the department programs.
  • Conducts regular assessment of program outcomes and service delivery to increase organizational effectiveness
  • Plans, organizes, administers, and manages processes and operations related to assigned areas of responsibility; interprets and applies federal and state mandated guidelines.
  • Develops, administers, and maintains budgets in assigned areas of responsibility; implements and allocates resources following budget approval; approves expenditures and provides reports to the Dean and other stakeholders
  • Performs analyses and recommends financial policies relative to changes in external and internal funding, including state regulations and university policy
  • Develops financial analysis for various strategies to revise faculty compensation policies.
  • Monitors faculty salaries related to peer institutions as well as internal equity of faculty salaries within the college.
  • Manages, trains, and provides oversight to staff
  • May participate in investigations, disciplinaries, grievances and appeals, for staff or students
  • Advise the Dean on all matters related to students and implement campus policy
  • May reserve as a designee to the Dean
  • May review and manage courses and core curriculum
  • May oversee the graduation clearance and completion of the degree/certificate
 

Job Requirements

Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in education, finance, public administration, academic administration or other related field.

  • 96 months of experience in related area of college assignment

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

  • Working knowledge of university and college budgeting practices and procedures
  • Advanced ability to navigate and manage complex situations which affect students, faculty and staff.
  • Ability to reconcile, analyze, monitor accounts, and create reports
  • Ability to use problem-solving techniques in systems improvement
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with faculty, staff and system leadership
  • Ability to complete projects and monitor them to assure desired outcomes

Advertised Physical Requirements:

  • Physical: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer and frequent interruptions. Ability to engage in repetitive motion and communicate effectively. 
  • Environmental: Standard office environment

Departmental Preferences:

  • MBA/CPA
  • Ability to utilize high level fiscal and analytic software and business system (what software and/or system) OUHSC Budget system, Peoplesoft and highly competent in excel
  • Knowledge of health care related business office practices, procedures, and management systems. The person should be competent in financial knowledge of health care systems from a global perspective.
  • Ability to use problem-solving techniques in systems improvement from IT to financial management systems.
  • Ability to delegate responsibility to complete projects and monitor them to assure desired outcomes.
