Associate Communications Specialist

Job Summary

The Associate Communications Specialist supports communications for the School of Mechanical Engineering through direct collaboration with the ME Communications Director, supports the ME Professional Master’s Program (PMP) through direct collaboration with the ME Graduate Office staff, and directly supports award nominations for ME faculty, staff, and students.

What We Are Looking For

Education and Experience:    

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, business/management, graphic fesign, hospitality, writing, or related field 
  • 0-1 years of experience curating and adapting content for a variety of communication media or other relevant work experience
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
    • For example, an Associate's degree and 2.5 years of experience or a High School Diploma/GED and 4.5 years of experience                    

 

Skills:    
Required:

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, including writing, event and program promotion, web management, social media, graphic design, and media relations
  • Ability to balance multiple, competing directions and manage multiple projects successfully with a high attention to detail
  • Ability to meet all deadlines and work independently or on a team; Highly motivated, collaborative individual who will take initiative to solve problems and assume responsibility to meet deadlines
  • Ability to be creative in developing and delivering wide ranging forms of communications
  • Computer and technology skills; possess a learning orientation to changing technology
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams); Zoom, WebEx, and other remote collaboration tools; Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, and other graphic design tools
  • Must possess exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to influence, teach, consult, and build work relationships among a diverse group at all levels
