SCHEDULE: PRN - AS NEEDED
DEPARTMENT:  Language Services

WORK LOCATION:  University Hospital

SALARY RANGE:  $14.00


 

BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY


 

Promote an environment of exemplary customer service through interactions with patients, family members and staff.  Deliver a welcoming first impression to those entering the health care environment by responding to questions, providing information, and directing to hospital locations.  Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality of patient information.  Monitors the overall appearance of the hospital entrance. Contacts Security, Environmental Services, or Facilities Management, for assistance when necessary.


 

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES


 

Cordially greet visitors and patients upon arrival.  Ascertain patients’ and or visitors’ needs, answer questions, give directions, and/or assist them accordingly; obtain wheelchairs, hospital maps and directory information, or other services as needed.  Escort, transport, and assist patients/visitors who need help to their destination within the hospital.  Help patients/visitors fulfill their needs, such as directing them to hospital services, hotels, local events and venues, and transportation options, and access the internet if appropriate.


 

Perform MUHC Telecomm Operator function in back up capacity:  Answer calls, send notifications, and respond to alarms and emergency response protocol as required.  Act as staff access/contact point for employees, patients/visitors related to Telecomm, i.e. telecomm device exchange.


 

Provide oversight, monitoring and notifications related to various regulatory and security systems.  Including but not limited to, fire alarm, medical gas (oxygen, vacuum, and medical air), access intercom system, closed circuit television, intrusion alarms, panic/duress alarms.


 

Perform required tasks related to visitor check in processes.  Complete vetting processes and issuance of identification to visitors per visitation policy and utilization of computer systems.  Verify employee, vendor, and visitor badges.  Assist vendors as needed.  


 

Qualifications

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

Minimum of two years working with the public is required. Education maybe used in lieu of work experience.
