Department Description:
Utilities is responsible for the procurement of campus gas and electricity, high voltage electricity distribution, natural gas distribution, central plant steam and chilled water production, water supply, wastewater treatment, and storm water management.

Position Details
Job Summary:
Under general supervision, provide engineering support and project management for utility systems. Work with individual system managers to evaluate system performance and provide technical support for deferred maintenance and capital improvement projects. Conduct system assessments and master planning.  
Physical Demands:
May climb, crawl, bend, stoop and work in tight, confined areas.
Will spend extended periods of time in front of a computer terminal and typing on a keyboard.
Work Environment:
Work occasional evenings and weekends as required to meet operation needs.
Employee is personally responsible for following safety procedures/guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited program, preferably in one of the following disciplines: Civil or Mechanical.
Experience in engineering design, plan review, and project administration experience and facility operation in water and recycled water distribution, wastewater collection, water booster pump stations and sewage lift stations, groundwater pumping facilities, wastewater treatment and solid waste.
Experience in reviewing, interpreting, and understanding architectural/ mechanical/ electrical/ civil plans, specifications, shop drawings, test reports, codes and regulations pertaining to construction, construction safety and hazardous materials.
Preferred Qualifications:
Current license as a professional as civil or mechanical engineer in California.
Skill in successfully managing technical projects, program budgets and schedules. Possess strong technical analysis capabilities; problem solving and creative thinking skills.
Skill to demonstrate prioritization, time management, and organizational skills.
Capital Improvement Project (CIP) budgeting; and experience with developing sewer, water and treatment plant master plan documents and condition assessment.
Experience with water and wastewater maintenance; an understanding of Enterprise Asset Management System (EAMS) principles.
Excellent customer service skills, effective oral and written communication skills to write clear and concise reports, to convey technical concepts and data to a wide audience.
