Associate Benefits Administrator, Health and Wellness

Job Summary

This position will serve as the primary contact within benefits for health and wellness compliance, in addition to troubleshoot and resolve benefits issues in coordination with benefit vendors as appropriate.  Responsible for the administration of the graduate staff and student medical plans, coordinating with both internal and external stakeholders.  Receive, review and process all health and wellness invoicing ensuring accuracy.  Support senior benefits administrator with health and wellness communication, execution of program and communications.  This position is primarily remote but will require two to four hours per month for in-person meetings.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and execute tasks for federal and state regulations related to healthcare, particularly healthcare reform, working with internal and external partners to ensure the university maintains compliance.  Provide analysis and recommendations as appropriate.
  • Administer and management of the graduate staff and student insurance plans, coordinating with internal and external partners ensuring proper planning, communication, cost effectiveness and transparency.
  • Work directly with outside vendors regarding the administration of the health and wellness programs, with specific responsibilities for invoicing, supporting effective communications and execution of programs for the university.
  • Resolves escalated customer service issues related to health and wellness benefits, programs and vendors.

What We're Looking For:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Management, Human Resources, Healthcare Administration or a related field
  • Six months or more of experience managing programs or projects
  • Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of required education and related work experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, interpret policies and solve programs
  • Ability to handle frequent interruptions, balance multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality
  • Strong organizational and time management skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to interpret policies and procedures to proactively resolve issues or improve processes
  • Advanced computer and related software skills to include Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet, etc.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate with individuals at all levels within and external to the university to support department needs.
  • Ability to identify problems and implement or recommend solutions
  • Ability to gather and analyze data to identify trends and propose a course of action based on findings

What is Helpful:
  • Familiarity and experience with benefit plans, administration and medical terminology
  • Ability to work within payroll systems and Microsoft office applications
