The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for an Associate Athletics Director, Event Management & Facilities on the Dahlonega campus. The Associate Athletics Director for Event Management & Facilities oversees all aspects of event management and monitors all athletics facilities recommending repair, renovation, and maintenance needs. Management responsibilities include supervision, training, hiring, and scheduling of part-time and student employees serving at the facilities in both daily and event positions, overseeing daily team usage of the facilities and managing event coordination for athletic contests and special events at the facilities. Facilitates the mission, policies and procedures of UNG, the Peach Belt Conference, and the NCAA. Incumbent is frequently away from assigned work desk/phone due to official UNG work responsibilities or travel and requires real time communication with others. In addition to background checks for all cardholders, O.C.G.A. § 50-5-83 requires a credit check on all employees issued a purchasing card. Additionally, credit checks must be run at the time of PCard renewal. 

  • Direct responsibility for the oversight and management of athletic contest in a professional manner, interfacing with users of the facilities, coordinating event staffing (i.e., ticket takers, ushers, custodians, security, etc.) before, during and following an event. Determines physical and human resource needs for each event and determines, schedules, and oversees event set-up. This position works with athletic coaches and campus organizations to develop and coordinate ongoing scheduling of facilities. Monitors all athletic facilities to ensure they remain safe, secure, and well-maintained.
  • Oversees and directs building repairs, maintenance, and renovation projects in coordination with Facilities & Material Management.
  • Recruits, selects, trains, schedules, and supervises part-time and student employees serving as facility and event staff.
  • Serves as a member of the leadership staff of the athletic department responsible for departmental strategic planning, supervision and management of the safety and well-being of students, coaches and staff. Provides direct administrative and supervision of assigned athletic programs.
  • Assists in the planning and hosting of conference and NCAA tournament events.
  • Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses and attending training and/or courses.
  • Contributes to the overall success of the athletics department by performing other duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge, Skill, & Abilities

  • Experience and knowledge of university rules and regulations, conference rules and regulations, and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) rules and regulations. 
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal and teamwork skills; outstanding oral and written communication skills; strong computer skills. 
  • Highly organized with superior work ethic and the ability to manage a wide variety of tasks and a large caseload in a positive, efficient and effective manner in a face-paced organization.
  • High ethical standards and ability to relate work with a diverse faculty, staff, students and other publics. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Must be willing to obtain CPR and AED certification. 
  • Must be willing to obtain other certifications as needed.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of event management, game management, facilities management, or capital planning experience; 
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Master's degree preferred.
