Experience in an athletic/sports industry preferred. Managerial experience is preferred.
Job Description Summary
The University of South Alabama’s Athletics department is seeking to hire an Associate Athletic Director, Business Operations.  Interested candidates should apply to be considered.

Essential Functions


These are the job duties required of the position.


Essential Functions
  • Supervises and manages all business and accounting functions for the University of South Alabama Athletic Department.
  • Leads day-to-day operations of the athletic business office including budgeting, reporting, administrative operations, purchasing and human resources.
  • Oversees the annual budgeting process for the athletic department and its various sports programs and administrative areas.
  • Serves as a member of the athletic department’s senior administrative team.
  • Serves as the departmental liaison with the university business and finance departments and will meet regularly to discuss current business and finance issues and ensures an open line of communication and effective institutional oversight of business practices.
  • Assists the Athletic Director and Senior Associate Athletic Director, Internal Operations in reviewing financial information pertaining to the Athletic Department, and Mitchell Center.
  • Provides regular and accurate analysis and forecasts against budgetary goals and objectives.
  • Projects long-term operating revenues, operating expenses, capital project expenses, debt service payment and fund balances.
  • Monitors and manages all contracts with third-party vendors for revenue generation and expenditures.
  • Implements cost-saving initiatives and procurement programs for travel, equipment, supplies, etc.
  • Supervises the department’s per diem car program, distribution, and communication.
  • Reviews for approval, on behalf of the University’s contracting officer, all corporate sales and other contracts below specified limits.
  • Reviews for approval all cash deposits, requisitions, Concur travel reports, and purchase orders.
  • Creates monthly financial statements for each sport and administrative program and the Athletic Department, and Mitchell Center on a consolidated basis.
  • Prepares monthly financial statements for the Jaguar Athletics Fund as well as the Fund’s annual income tax return.
  • Develops and maintains up-to-date departmental policies and procedures for human resources, travel, purchasing, revenue collection, cash handling inventory control, accounting requirements, and financial reporting.
  • Ensures that all business and financial guidelines of the department are in full compliance with policies, procedures, laws, rules, and regulations as set forth by the University, states and federal agencies, Sun Belt Conference and the National Collegiate Athletic Association.
  • Oversees the department’s human resources guidelines, procedures, and strategies including salary and contract administration, preparation and distribution of personnel action request forms, and other human resources and payroll documents.
  • Responsible for all financial reporting related to Athletics, including NCAA agreed upon procedures, Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act and any other NCAA or Sun Belt Conference reporting requirements.
  • Regular and prompt attendance.
  • Ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours as required.
  • Related duties as required.
