McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston , a leading academic health center, invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), faculty position, tenure track in the Center for Neuroimmunology and Glial Biology in the Brown Foundation Institute of Molecular Medicine. The selected candidate will contribute to the department’s mission to investigate the cause of human diseases at the genetic, cellular, and molecular levels. 

 

Position Key Accountabilities:

 

The faculty in the Center for Neuroimmunology and Glial Biology will be expected to play a key role in strengthening an academic program in studying neuroimmune and glial function in health and diseases.

  • Conducting independent and collaborative research, actively pursuing grants and sponsored contracts, participating in scholarly research, and publishing results
  • Supervising post-docs and graduate student research assistants in research and development activities.
  • Participating, developing, and expanding the scope of collaborative and funded-program portfolio.
  • Participating in the education mission by enhancing the curriculum for students, residents, and fellows.
  • Participating in Quality Assurance (QA) efforts, the department chair's annual faculty review (AFR), and other departmental meetings and/or retreats.
  • Coordinating with the Office of Development for philanthropic support.
  • Participating in and/or chairing committees, work groups, and meetings as appropriate.

Qualifications:

 

Successful candidates will have a PhD, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree with a strong publication track record and will have active grant funding. A background in neuroscience, immunology, or neuroimmunology is desirable.

Preferred applicants will possess experience in basic research in glial biology. and demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
