The position Grant Administrator of the DMH Internship Program (hereinafter referred to as “Grant Administrator”) lies within the School of Social Work at Bridgewater State University and is part of the Academic Affairs Division.
The School of Social Work, led by Carol Bonner, MBA, MSW, Ed.D., Associate Dean, offers the largest bachelor’s in social work program in Massachusetts along with a popular master’s in social work program — both of which are accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. With a curriculum grounded in service learning, BSU’s social work programs offer intensive fieldwork and mentoring by our accomplished faculty.
Position Summary
BSU SSW seeks an Associate Administrator of Field Education to join a school of social work and a field education staff team committed to equity-minded practice, strengthening a justice-informed social work community, and helping to advance the school’s strategic plan.
The Associate Administrator will report to the Director of Field Education and support them in administrative functions and student serving roles. Position responsibilities include assisting the Director of Field Education in overseeing field education for approximately 300 undergraduate and graduate social work students annually.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: The Staff Associate, Field Education Specialist shall work under the direct supervision of the Director of Field Education.
This is an APA position and is subject to the terms of that union agreement.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm
Evening and weekend hours may be required
Saturday and Sundays as days off, ability to work some Saturdays as needed
This position is located on campus in Bridgewater, MA. This position is eligible for hybrid / remote work in accordance with BSU remote work policy.

Essential Duties
The associate administrator will work to support the Director of Field Education and serve a diverse group of students in their MSW and BSW degree programs.
  • Work closely with BSW and/or MSW social work students, as assigned by the Director of Field Education, interviewing students and placing them in internships, providing support to agencies, problem-solving, and assisting in expanding placements opportunities.
  • Collaborate and consult with the School of Social Work Chair, the MSW & BSW Program Coordinators, and social work faculty, and staff. Assume duties as assigned, including evening and weekend responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with field supervisors and field faculty to ensure quality experiences in Field Education.
  • Consult with faculty and students regarding field placement concerns and ensure appropriate resolution. Serve on Academic Review Committees as assigned by the Chair, MSW or BSW Coordinator or the Director of Field Education.
  • Promote and maintain strong working relationships with social work field supervisors and the professional social work community.
  • Assist students in meeting their goals and objectives, achieving academic success.
  • Provide independent management of the recruitment, development, and approval of field practicum sites at all levels as assigned by the Director of Social Work Field Education.
  • Oversight for the field component of grants and new academic pathways at the School of Social Work, as directed by the Director of Field Education.
  • Develop and implement student orientations and training for field instructors and supervisors to enhance the quality of student supervision and learning experiences.
  • Support and develop strategies to facilitate the integration of field work and classroom content.
  • Monitor utilization and maintenance of the field education program’s data management system.
  • Represent the SSW’s field education program to professional and partner organizations and community
  • Contributions to the social work knowledge base via the seminar in field instruction and external presentations.
  • Assist in the recruitment and orientation of MSW students via in person and virtual information sessions.
  • Develop and recruit new field placements.
  • Maintain familiarity with best practices in field education to assist with department continuous improvement and greater efficiencies.
  • Provide staff supervision, as needed.
  • Required Qualifications

    • Three years MSW practice experience
    • Ability to supervise or manage a team
    • Familiarity with database software, technology, and the use of social media
    • Practice experience in diverse settings
    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse students, colleagues and community professionals
    • Strong oral and written communication skills
    • Driver’s license, reliable transportation, and the ability to travel in MA and RI

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience as a field staff member or field supervisor for social work students
    • Licensed in MA as an LCSW or LICSW or equivalent in another state
    • Knowledge of the social service delivery system in Massachusetts and Rhode Island
    • Bilingual in Portuguese, Spanish, Haitian Creole
    • Experience with virtual technology and online
    • Experience organizing training & events

    Salary Range $75,000 - $85,000
