Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (GSAS) is looking for Associate Director for Operations, Administration, and Budget to join their team. The ideal candidate is a strategic systems thinker responsible for organizing and implementing financial and operational processes for GSAS. Works closely with the Executive Director of Operations, Administration and Budget for Arts & Sciences and the Dean of the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences to streamline operational systems, increase efficiency, and systematize all aspects of the GSAS budget and budget processes. Also responsible for project managing operational and budgetary work and collaborating with staff in GSAS, A&S, ITS, the Registrar’s Office, SFS, and other units across the university. Supervises the Budget Coordinator and works closely with the Department Administrator.

  • Responsible for high-level financial analyses, reports, and decision-making related to revenue based on admissions targets and other income sources, competitive tuition rates, financial aid packages and discount rates. Negotiates financial arrangements for GSAS in collaboration with the GSAS Dean. 25%

  • Manages budgets including the oversight of day to day operations, monitoring of GSAS budgets versus spending, providing projections, developing processes for monthly budget reports, and conducting continuous quality improvement to maximize financial efficiencies. Drafts doctoral support agreements and send to departments. Creates PAP EIB for PhD students. Assists with financial aspect of grant management for Connected PhD or other grant funds. 25%

  • Operationalizes all GSAS financial policies and is the Workday expert for GSAS. Project manages Workday projects with financial components including CA/TA/Grader hiring and the annual status and funding review each spring to maximize the ease with which faculty, staff and students interact with GSAS systems and increase transparency at all levels. Conducts continuous process improvements from a student centered approach and responds to student, faculty, and staff inquiries. 25%

  • Identifies key operational priorities for GSAS quality improvement and project manages all projects with operational and financial components. Liaises with the Associate Director of Operations, Administration and Budget on all Human Resources matters. Manages endowments and gift fellowship funds and partners with IA on stewardship of these funds.  25%

Job Requirement:

  • Bachelor's degree plus at least 5 years of related experience. Higher level of education preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal, financial, project management and managerial skills required.

  • Knowledge of standard budgetary practices in higher education essential. Change management and diplomacy skills helpful.

  • Experience with HRIS systems (ideally Workday) preferred.

  • Expertise with Excel required. Detail oriented and accuracy focused.
