Job Description

The Assistant Women's Volleyball Coach will assist the head coach with all administrative functions as well as setting up travel arrangements for the team, assisting with recruitment and other duties.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists the head volleyball coach in all administrative aspects of the program and in all management aspects of the team while adhering to the established and governing rules of the NCAA, SWAC, TAMU System, PVAMU, and the Department of Athletics. This will include, but is not limited to, planning of competition schedule, conducting team practices, team bonding and building events, recruiting,  and community service projects.

  • Assists the Athletic Academic Services and Athletic Compliance areas in monitoring the class and study hall attendance, and academic progress of the student-athletes participating in this women's volleyball program in order to maintain the required Academic Progress Rate (APR) and the Graduation Success Rate (GSR).

  • Responsible for making and securing of team travel needs to include but not limited to providing team travel rosters, making and securing lodging accommodations, preparing transportation itineraries for all away competitions, team snacks and meals for away competitions, and getting necessary travel documents completed and signed before leaving campus.

  • Assists the Head Coach in all areas of recruitment for the team, this includes traveling to scout for and evaluate potential players, and the planning and making arrangement for campus visits.

  • Attends all NCAA rules education trainings, clinics, workshops, and conferences to stay current in knowledge of matters relating to Division 1 collegiate level women's volleyball.

  • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Three years of coaching experience

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Physical Education or a related field

  • Four or more years NCAA Division 1 collegiate coaching experience

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations

Special Requirements:

  • Applicants with equivalent experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree may be considered. One year of the related experience is the equivalent of one college year. Applicants being considered for the equivalency must have four years of related experience to meet the equivalency in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree plus the minimum required years of experience.
